Military research tree

Description

Military.png The military research tree enables improvements to castles, armies and scouts.

Castellation

Castellation.png Castellation upgrades the level of your keep. This provides better basic defence for your castle by increasing the rate at which it fires arrows at attackers. Each level of research requires the player to be of a higher rank than at the previous level, and opens up the Fortification, Vaults, Defences, Construction and Sally Forth branches of research.

Fortification

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Fortification.png Fortification allows access to new castle structures, which can be used to build better defences surrounding the player’s castle. These structures include Wooden Walls, Wooden Gatehouses, Wooden Platforms, Stone Walls, Lookout Towers, Small Towers, Gatehouses, Large Towers and Great Towers. This research can be started at Rank 1.

Vaults

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Vaults.png Vaults increase the length of the pillage timer, which means it takes the enemy longer to find the goods from a pillaging attack, and therefore, more time in which they can be defeated by the defending player's archers etc. This research can be started at Rank 1.

Defences

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Defences.png Defences increases the protection of archers on walls and towers, and also provides access to other defence technologies. These technologies include basic Guard Houses, Killing Pits, Wooden Guard Houses, Oil Smelters and Oil Pots, Moat, Stone Guard Houses and Guard Houses with Iron Hoardings. This research can be started at Rank 1.

Diplomacy

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Diplomacy.png Diplomacy increases the chance of stopping incoming enemy AI attacks - its highest level awarding a 50% chance of stopping attacks. This research can be started at Rank 5.

Construction

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Construction.png Construction increases the speed at which all castle buildings are erected - the build speed increasing with each level of research. This research can be started at Rank 11.


Sally Forth

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Sally forth.png Sally Forth enables a knight to ride out from the keep to defend against attacking troops. Further research increases the number of knights which can sally forth, up to a maximum of 10. This research can be started at Rank 12.

Command

Command.png Command increases the maximum size of an army which can be recruited from a single village, up to a maximum of 500 troops. It also gives access to the Conscription, Long Bow, Pike, Sword, Catapult, Captains and Tactics branches of research. This research can be started at Rank 1.

Conscription

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Conscription.png Conscription gives access to armed peasants, which can be recruited from the barracks. Further research increases their hit points. This research can be started at Rank 1.

Long Bow

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Longbow.png Long bow gives access to archers, which can be recruited from the barracks. Further research increases their hit points. This research can be started at Rank 6.

Pike

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Pike.png Pike gives access to pikemen, which can be recruited from the barracks. Further research increases their hit points. This research can be started at Rank 11.

Sword

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Sword.png Sword gives access to swordsmen, which can be recruited from the barracks. Further research increases their hit points. This research can be started at Rank 13.

Catapult

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Catapult r.png Catapult gives access to catapults, which can be recruited from the barracks. Further research increases their firing rate. This research can be started at Rank 15.

Scouts

Scouts.png Scouts gives access to scouts, which can be recruited from the units screen, and also gives access to the Foraging and Horsemanship branches of research. Further research increases the number of scouts which can be recruited, up to a maximum of eight (8). This research can be started at Rank 1, but each level of research requires the player to be of a higher rank than at the previous level.

Foraging

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Foraging.png Foraging increases the number of goods which scouts can forage from resource stashes. This research can be started at Rank 1, once the first level of Scouts research has been completed.

Horsemanship

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Horsemanship.png Horsemanship increases the speed of scouts across the map. This research can be started at Rank 3, once the second level of Scouts research has been completed.

Pillaging

Pillage.png Pillaging increases the number of goods which can be taken when attacking other villages. This research can be started at Rank 1. It also gives access to Ransacking.

Ransacking

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Ransacking.png Ransacking increases the number of buildings which can be destroyed when attacking other villages, up to a maximum of eight (8). This research can be completed at Rank 1, once the first level of Pillaging research has been completed.

Forced March

Forced march.png Forced March increases the speed of armies as they move across the World Map. This Research can be started at Rank 1.

Leadership

Leadership.png Leadership allows players to increase the number of villages they can own. This research can be started at rank 12, and completed at rank 23. Please note that only Leadership up to and including level 13 are shown on the Leadership tree until the player reaches rank 23. Once a player has reached rank 23 (Crown Prince), further Leadership research is shown as well as the accompanying degree of the Crown Prince rank required to complete each additional level of Leadership research.

Captains

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Captains.png This research allows the creation of Captains, which are required in order to buy, capture, or raze villages. It can be researched at rank 12, once Level 1 of leadership is complete.

Tactics

Logistics

Research ComesFrom.jpg Spacer.png Spacer.png Logistics.png Logistics increases the speed at which captains move across the World Map. This research can be started at Rank 12.
