Enemy AI randomly spawn on the world map. Some may be attacked by players in order to gain honour; however, they can also attack players, robbing them of honour and resources, and occasionally destroying village buildings. Honour can be gained by successfully defending against these attacks. Enemy AI cannot raze or capture players' villages.
|Wolf lairs are some of the weakest targets which players can attack. The number of wolves found in a lair depends on the average rank of players in the parish a lair spawns in. The higher the average rank, the larger the wolf lair. The only way to know the size of a lair in advance is to scout the target.
TIP: Wolf lairs do not attack players' castles
TIP: A wolf lair in a parish causes -2 to popularity
|Bandit camps are medium strength targets which players can attack. The size and strength of a bandit camp depends on the average rank of the players found in the parish a camp spawns in. The higher the average rank, the larger the camp and the more troops it contains. The only way to know the size of a bandit camp in advance is to scout the target.
TIP: Bandit camps do not attack players' castles
TIP: A bandit camp in the parish causes -5 to popularity
|AI castles come in various shapes and sizes, as well as housing several different opponents.|
|The Rat is the weakest of the enemy castles.
TIP: A Rat's castle in the parish causes -10 to popularity
|The Snake is the second weakest of the enemy castles. He is indeed an evil enemy! Through his ransack attacks upon the castle of the player he tries to randomly destroy village structures. His castles are always long and narrow like a snake. Be very careful that his armies do not make it across the white line of your castle, otherwise valuable buildings could suddenly disappear!
TIP: A Snake's castle in the parish causes -18 to popularity
|The Pig is the second strongest of the enemy castles.
TIP: A Pig's castle in the parish causes -25 to popularity
|The Wolf is the strongest of the enemy castles.
TIP: A Wolf's castle in the parish causes -32 to popularity
Enemy Siege Camps
Enemy siege camps periodically spawn on the world map, sending out simultaneous attacks against all villages within the parish. The attacks gradually become larger and more difficult to defend against, before the finally ceasing and leaving the parish. The strength of attack depends on the player's rank. Players can gain honour by successfully defending against these attacks and lose honour if the attack is successful.
TIP: Enemy siege camps do attack players during peace-time but not if the village is under interdiction.
TIP: Enemy siege camps cannot be attacked.
TIP: Enemy siege camps do not cause negative popularity.
Diplomacy may be researched in order to decrease the chances of being attacked by enemy AI. The higher the level of research, the higher the chance of not being attacked. The honour a player would have gained from successfully defending against an AI attack is still awarded if the attack is stopped by diplomacy. If an attack is stopped with diplomacy the player will receive a report.
